ECMS teams win big

The Escambia County Eagles ended their season on a high note as they won their final game 49-36 over the Central Baldwin Bears in Robertsdale on Tuesday night.

The Eagles (11-3) were led by Gordon Brooks and Ty McNeal who each scored in double figures.

Brooks finished the win with 13 points, six steals, five rebounds and two assists, while McNeal scored 12 and had three assists.

Escambia County opened the game on a strong run as they outscored the Bears 13-2.

In the second quarter, the Eagles continued to extend their lead by outhustling the Bears and outscoring them 14-9 to roll into halftime with a 27-11 lead.

Following halftime, the Eagles held onto their lead despite being outscored by the Bears in the third and fourth quarters.

The Bears knocked two points off of the Eagles’ lead in the third period by outscoring them 13-11, but the ECMS lead remained comfortable.

In the final quarter, the Bears managed to outscore the Eagles again this time 12-11, but it would not be nearly enough to knock off the Eagles as ECMS won 49-36.

Eagles head coach Robert Smith said his team played well and thanked his fans and coaches.

“We played well as a team,” he said. “We had good pressure on defense and were tough on the boards. I would like to thank our parents and fans for their support as well as coaches Larkin and Franklin.”

Lady Bears 25

The Escambia County Lady Eagles (9-4) ended their season with a win beating the Central Baldwin Lady Bears 32-25.

Nicole Johnson led the team with 23 points and 11 rebounds.

The Lady Eagles included Dominique Beckham, TaCarra Black, Kadashae Wiggins, Amber Johnson, Jasmine Sinquefield, Dara McCullam, Ashleigh Simpkins, Ychelle Walker, Zhanae Salter and Latecia Barron.
