Lady Cougars head coach Heath Gibson said his team had trouble hustling against the Lady Chiefs.

“We just didn’t hustle,” he said. “I called timeout at one point and told them I was going to draw something on the board and until they did that I wouldn’t draw anything else. I wrote hustle on the board because they weren’t doing that.”

In the first quarter, Lakeside grabbed a hold of the momentum by outscoring the Lady Cougars 18-4.

The Lady Cougars continued to trail the undefeated Lady Chiefs in the second period as the Lady Chiefs extended their lead by outscoring EA 11-7.

At halftime, the Lady Chiefs led the Lady Cougars 29-11.

Following halftime, the Lady Cougars could never gain traction, while the Lady Chiefs continued to show why they are ranked No. 1 by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.

In the third quarter, the Lady Chiefs held strong on their 18-point lead as they extended it to 20 by outscoring EA 12-10.

Trailing 41-21 at the start of the fourth, the Lady Cougars were outscored 23-15 to fall 64-36 ending their season.
