The Atmore Christian School Rams defeated the Santa Rosa Christian Eagles 4-1 on Thursday afternoon in Milton, Fla.

The Rams (3-2) took the lead early and held on throughout the game to pick up the win.

Atmore Christian opened the game by scoring two quick runs as Josh McDonald (3-for-4, 2B, RBI, R, SB) and William Swartzendruber (3-for-3, 2RBI, R, SB) show strength at the plate to drive in runs.

Leading 2-0 to open the fourth innings, the Rams went back to work at the plate and added two more runs to their total as Thomas Moore (1-for-3, 2B, RBI, R) and Swartzendruber drove in runs to put the Rams ahead 4-0.

The Eagles finally got on the board in the bottom of the seventh with one run coming across to score, but that would be all they could get as the Rams claimed the victory.

Tyler Dehoff recorded a hit in the win for the Rams, while Jonathan Bender had an RBI.

Rams head coach Anthony Swartzendruber said he thought his team put together a good game against the Eagles.

“I thought our pitching and defense was solid all game,” he said. “We also benefitted from two-inning ending double plays. We needed some different players to step up offensively and McDonald and Swartzendruber did a good job of delivering. We had a couple of base running miscues, but all in all we played a solid game and ended up with a good win.”

The Rams next game is today against Gateway in Bonifay, Fla. The game begins at 11 a.m.
