Cougars shut out West Florida Baptist

The Escambia Academy Cougars shut out West Florida Baptist 10-0 on Friday at Escambia Academy in Canoe.
The Cougars (12-5, 3-1) continued their winning ways by dominating the late innings against West Florida.
Escambia Academy took the lead in the bottom of the first with Tanner Boatwright (2-for-3, 2R) scoring a run.
After a scoreless second inning, the Cougars scored another run in the bottom of the third with Boatwright scoring his second run of the game to put EA out front 2-0.
The Cougars continued to dominate the game in the bottom of the fourth inning this time with seven runs scoring as Blake Clark (0-for-3, R), Jamie Whimberly (1-for-2, R), Chance Jackson (1-for-2, R), Austin Ryan (1-for-3, R), Michael Thompson (1-for-2, R) and Michael Austin (1-for-2, R) all scored giving EA a nine-run lead.
In the top of the fifth, EA again held West Florida scoreless putting themselves one run away from a win.
The Cougars ended the game in the bottom of the fifth with Brett Helton scoring the final run to give EA a 10-0 win.
The Cougars next game will be Friday at South Choctaw Academy. The game will begin at 4 p.m.
