After holding Gateway scoreless in the bottom of the first, the Rams went back to work in the top of the second and added another run.

William Swartzendruber (1-for-3, R) put the Rams’ lead at 3-0 by scoring his only run of the game.

The Rams were held off of the scoreborad in the next inning, but Gateway pulled within one run as two batters came across the plate.

Neither team put any runs on the board in the fourth or fifth innings, but Gateway tied the game at three with a runner coming across in the bottom of the sixth.

The Rams took the lead for the final time in the top of the seventh as Christian Swartzendruber, Dehoff and Josh McDonald (2-for-4, R) all recorded hits and scored runs.

Atmore Christian held off Gateway in the bottom of the inning to bring home the win.

Rams head coach Anthony Swartzendruber said his team had chances to get big leads, but was unable to capitalize.

“We had some opportunities to blow the game open early that we did not take advantage of,” he said. “The top of the order did a good job in the seventh to put runs on the board and finish the game out.”

The Rams next game will be Monday in Milton, Fla. against West Florida Baptist. The game will begin at 3:30 p.m.
