A U.S. Air Force V22 Osprey, airplane rides, motorcycles and classic cars are among the attractions this weekend at the second annual Brewton Spring Fly-in.

The event — free to the public — will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Brewton Municipal Airport.

“We should have a good turnout,” said airport manager Earl Lambert. “We have tried to make this appeal to more than just aviation enthusiasts.”

There is plenty for everyone at the event.

The fly-in will feature remote-controlled airplanes — a popular feature last year when a low ceiling prevented some pilots that wanted to come from attending.

A motorcycle ride and car show are also planned, and there is no entry fee for cars or motorcycles or for airplanes. There will be best-in-show awards and trophies for each class.

The fly-in will also feature powered parachutes, tail draggers, choppers, Cessnas, helicopters and gyros. Plane rides will be available for a fee.

Lambert said the Navy Special Ops’ V22 Osprey will be a draw.

“It’s a very exotic looking aircraft,” he said. “That will be quite a calling card.”

General concessions, including hamburgers, sausage dogs, chips, drunks and funnel cakes will be available from Brewton Kiwanis Club and Angel Food Concessions.

Sponsors of the event include Gulf Winds Federal Credit Union, BankTrust and the Farm Center.
