Romona gave all for shelter

Dear Editor,
I would like to introduce myself to the readers of this local newspaper in an unobtrusive way.
I became a volunteer at the Atmore Animal Shelter at the end of 2009 and into 2010. This came about due to an article that I had read concerning needs for the animal shelter.
My intention was to walk the dogs. By my second day I offered to help with the personal care and maintenance of the animals.
Now, to the object of this letter to the editor, Romona.
Romona greeted me the first day at the shelter. Her love for her job and the animals, which came in to this branch was so evident. She truly wore her heart on her sleeve for this Atmore Animal Shelter.
If she has been in the military, I would have to say she went beyond the call of duty.
Romona presented herself as dedicated to the care of the animals and gave her personal time. Some of us would call this overtime, but without pay.
She shared her dream with me to make Atmore Animal Shelter the best it could be. Each new arrival was treated with love and respect as if a lost friend was found.
Romona, Atmore has lost a friend and the animals have lost a crusader.
Just remember who is in control.
God Bless You.
