The points club has returned with First National Bank & Trust ready to donate money in return for touchdowns and field goals.

Football season has kicked off and with football season comes the opportunity for area athletic programs to earn money through First National Bank & Trust’s points club.

The points club, which was created in 2007, has been used as a fundraiser by FNB&T to help each school in the area raise funds. Those funds are directly associated with how many points the school’s football team scores during the season.

The amount that is donated depends on how the team’s score in each game at home. Each home touchdown is worth $50, while field goals are worth $25.

At the end of the season, the donations are made as a part of the bank’s annual contributions to schools said.

“This is part of our annual contribution to the community schools we serve,” she said.

Since 2007, the points club has given out $27,800 with more than $7,900 of that money being given out in 2010.

Another area of importance is the support that the community gives along with the play of each school, Godwin said.

“The success of the points club is attributed to community support for sure,” she said. “Coming out to the games and supporting our area kids. Plus, it’s motivation for the coaches and players and really up to the coaches how they would like to use the Club for motivation. We are thrilled when they succeed.”
