Treacherous road trips will be on the schedule Friday for Atmore’s area football teams as Escambia County and Escambia Academy each head out of town for important region games.

The Blue Devils (3-4, 2-3) will head to Jackson where they will face the No. 2 Jackson Tigers (7-0, 5-0) in a rematch of last year’s playoff game that ECHS came back to win 22-21. Prior to the playoff game, the Tigers beat ECHS 28-14 at Herbert Barnes Stadium.

For the Blue Devils, this match up holds importance in their chase for the playoffs after falling into a tie with the Saraland Spartans following last week’s 24-16 loss in Saraland.

Escambia Academy (5-3, 3-2) travels to Camden to take on the Wilcox Academy Wildcats (2-5, 1-3) in a game that could lock up the No. 3 spot in the region for the Cougars if they come away with a win.

The Cougars of Canoe will look to get revenge on Wilcox who defeated them 26-24 on homecoming last season.
