Atmore Christian School battled in an opening season last Friday tournament as they traveled to Milton, Fla. to take part in the West Florida Baptist Invitational Tournament.

The Rams (3-3, 1-0) went 2-1 in the tournament starting out in the loser’s bracket after subbing in for a team that could only play the first game of the tournament.

After opening the tournament on the losing side of the bracket, ACS battled back into the thick of things with two quick wins over West Florida Conquerors and the East Hill Eagles before falling out of the tournament in a loss to the Alethia Lions.

The 2-1 finish in the tournament gave the Rams some insight into improving the weak aspects of the team’s game, Rams head coach Tim Battles said.

“A day like this really shows a lot of our weaknesses,” he said. “We learned a lot and were able to use game situations to improve. It was a good day.”

The Rams next game will be next Monday, Nov. 28 at Escambia Academy in Canoe. Tip off will begin with the junior varsity at 5 p.m.
