Woodland’s girls won to last year’s Class 2A championship game before falling to Tanner, marking the Bobcats’ first trip to the Final 48.

The Bobcats earned the No. 1 ranking during the 2000 season when they participated in Class 1A, but, but have never been ranked No. 1 in Class 2A. Until now.

Woodland (21-1) took over the Class 2A top spot from Section in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association girls rankings. The team’s only loss came to Belmont, Miss., on Dec. 27 and the Bobcats have since reeled off 11 straight wins.
