ECMS Lady Eagles fall to Spanish Fort

The Escambia County Middle School Lady Eagles eight grade basketball team suffered a tough loss last Thursday on the road in Spanish Fort.

The Lady Eagles (5-8) had trouble getting things going offensively as they were crushed 26-6.

The Lady Eagles’ trouble began in the first quarter as they only found the hoop one time giving the Lady Toros a chance to take a 6-2 lead.

Offensive woes continued for ECMS in the second quarter as they were outscored 15-4 by Spanish Fort. At halftime, the Lady Toros led 21-6.

Following halftime, the problems grew worse for the Lady Eagles as they could not get any shots to fall through the hoop.

In the third quarter, the Lady Toros again extended their lead with a 5-0 run in the period to go ahead 26-6.

The score would stay at 26-6 through the fourth quarter with neither team scoring a point to give Spanish Fort the win.

Damia Mosley was the leader for the ECMS Lady Eagles as she scored four points.

Kadaijah Roberts rounded out the scoring with two points.

Escambia County’s seventh grade girls finished their season with a win last Thursday as they defeated the Spanish Fort Lady Toros 21-18.

The Lady Eagles had control of the game for all four quarters with the Lady Toros only making one run late in the game.

In the first quarter, ECMS opened the game with a strong run as the Lady Eagles outscored Spanish Fort 8-3.

The Lady Eagles continued their run in the second quarter as they extended their lead by one point to go into halftime leading 13-7.

After the halftime break, the Lady Eagles faced a run by the Lady Toros, but held their lead with a strong fourth quarter finish.

In the third quarter, ECMS fought an uphill battle as the Lady Toros took advantage of their home court and outscored the Lady Eagles 6-1 to cut the score to 14-13.

Escambia County would not settle for a loss in the end though as they outscored the Lady Toros 7-5 in the fourth quarter to earn the 21-18 win.

Jaquanda Webster was the leader of the Lady Eagles’ victory with 11 points, while Jade Adams chipped in five points.

Mykia Crenshaw and Erika McMillian each scored two points, and Tyranie Henderson rounded out he scoring with one point.
