Lady Devils win on Senior Night

After suffering a 35-33 loss earlier in area play at Saraland, the Escambia County Lady Blue Devils earned revenge over the Lady Spartans in their final homegame of the season.

The Lady Blue Devils (18-4, 4-2) dominated the match up leading from wire to wire in the 43-32 victory.

Escambia County opened the game playing strong offensively and defensively, as they jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the first quarter.

Saraland closed the gap in the second quarter pulling within four points of the Lady Blue Devils, but by halftime, ECHS had gone on a strong run to end the quarter to take a 21-8 lead into the break.

Following halftime, the Lady Spartans tried to close the scoring gap, but a strong fourth quarter kept the game out of reach.
In the third quarter, the Lady Blue Devils committed some key turnovers that gave Saraland scoring opportunities, which allowed the Lady Spartans to win the quarter 9-5.

Leading 26-17, the Lady Blue Devils faced another run by Saraland that allowed the visitors to pull within just a few points again.

Escambia County overcame the run with their own run that lasted until the end of the game with the Lady Blue Devils taking the win 43-32.

Diamond Williams led the Lady Blue Devils in the victory with 17 points and seven steals. She also posted four assists, three rebounds and two blocks.

Lady Blue Devils Jasmine Ireland and Nicole Johnson scored nine points apiece in the contest. Ireland also had four steals and two assists, while Johnson posted three blocks, two assists and two steals.

ShyKeithia Crenshaw chipped in five points, two rebounds, two steals and one assist.

With seeding in the area tournament becoming a factor, the Escambia County Lady Blue Devils helped themselves by picking up their third area win last Friday in Atmore.

The Lady Blue Devils (17-4, 3-2) earned the win by beating the B.C. Rain Lady Raiders 53-30.

In the first quarter, the Lady Blue Devils overpowered B.C. Rain with 13 points, as they built an early eight-point lead.

Escambia County continued to run away with the contest in the second quarter by beating the Lady Raiders 13-4 in the period. At halftime, ECHS led 26-9.

After the break, the Lady Devils picked up where they left off by going on a 19-10 run in the third quarter, and followed it up with nine more points in the fourth.

At the buzzer, ECHS held the advantage 53-30.

Jasmine Ireland and Keria Johnson led the charge for ECHS with both holding high point totals. Ireland posted 16 points, while Brown recorded 14.

Lady Blue Devil Nicole Johnson chipped in nine points, with Diamond Williams scoring eight in the win.
