Escambia County routs Leflore in Thursday doubleheader

Escambia County’s Lady Blue Devils softball team remains undefeated following a win in both games of their doubleheader against the Leflore Lady Rattlers Thursday in Mobile.

The Lady Blue Devils (7-0, 1-0) defeated the Lady Rattlers 6-0 in the second game of the series and 17-0 in the opening game.

Escambia County will play their next game Monday at home against Monroe County. Junior varsity will play at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity to follow at 5:30 p.m.

In the second game of the doubleheader between the Escambia County Lady Blue Devils and the Leflore Rattlers, the Lady Blue Devils earned a 6-0 victory.

The Lady Blue Devils (7-0, 1-0)  won the game with an outburst in the second inning with all six runs being scored.

Scoring the runs were Ashleigh Simpkins (1-for-2, R), Taylor Hill (1-for-2, R), Stacie Young (0-for-0, BB, R), Latecia Barron (0-for-0, BB, R), Justice Poole (0-for-0, BB, R) and Daughtry (0-for-0, BB, R).

Following the Lady Devils taking the 6-0 lead, the game was called due to light malfunction.

A 17-run rout gave the Escambia County Lady Blue Devils their sixth win of the season on Thursday at Leflore High School in Mobile.

The Lady Blue Devils (6-0, 1-0) dominated the game for three innings shelling the Lady Rattlers pitching and defense in the game.

Escambia County opened the game with seven runs in the first inning with Tristen Boothe (3-for-3, R), Ychelle Walker (1-for-4, R),

Jasmine Ireland (3-for-4, HR, 3R), Kaylee Cox (1-for-2, R), Carmehsa Crenshaw (0-for-1, R), Sierra Smith (2-for-2, 3R) and Daughtry (3-for-3, 3R) all crossing the plate.

With a strong lead, the Lady Blue Devils picked up four more runs inthe bottom of the second, as Ireland, Cox, Hill and Smith all made it around the bases to score.

After another scoreless inning by the Rattlers, the Lady Blue Devil put the game away with six runs from Hill, Craft, Crenshaw, Smith,

Daughtry and Ireland. Ireland had the hit of the inning with an inside the park homerun.

Defensively, Cox took the mound for the Lady Blue Devils and shut down the Lady Rattlers in every inning picking up eight strikeouts and giving up two hits in the game.

In a Tuesday match up, the Escambia County Lady Blue Devils shut out the Leflore Lady Rattlers 21-0 in the second game of a doubleheader in Atmore.

The Lady Blue Devils (5-0, 1-0) dominated the game with it being called after three innings.

Lady Blue Devils Kaylee Cox pitched all three innings striking out six and walking one. She also had a good night at the plate going 2-for-2 with two doubles and three runs scored.

Escambia County crushed the Leflore Lady Rattlers in the first game of a Tuesday doubleheader, as they earned a 23-4 victory in Atmore.

The Lady Blue Devils (4-0, 1-0) never left any doubt on the field, despite giving up three runs in the first inning.

The 3-0 quickly disappeared, as ECHS responded with 19 runs of their own.

Escambia County added four more runs in the second inning, while Leflore would only add one more in the third to fall 23-4.

Leading the Lady Blue Devils was Tristen Boothe going 1-for-1 with a single, three walks and four runs scored.
