ECHS looking good

Undefeated is the term used to describe the Escambia County Lady Blue Devils softball team at this point in time.

The Lady Blue Devils have surprised themselves, the community and their opponents by sneaking out to an 8-0 start with a 1-0 record in their area.

It is still too early in the season to tell if the Lady Blue Devils are the real deal, but it is evident that they have improved since last season.
Head coach Daryl Otwell has put a lot of work into making sure his players are in the best shape possible as well as to make sure they are skilled enough to be competitive.

The hard work started last season with summer workouts, which all of the returners made sure they attended and that work has carried over into this season.

Otwell has laid out a goal for his team to reach the regional tournament, and if they are able to make some good plays here and there, they could sneak up and win their area to make that goal a reality.

The teams to beat will be UMS-Wright and Saraland, but both teams have to make a trip to Atmore, so an upset is possible.

If an upset of either or both teams happen, it could be a long season for the Lady Blue Devils. Long in that they could make a deep run in the playoffs.

Work is still to be done, but if things keep going well then we could be looking at Cinderella for this softball season.
