EA slips by FDA

Softball action was in full swing at Escambia Academy early in the week with the Lady Cougars’ varsity and junior varsity teams playing two games each.

On Tuesday, the Lady Cougars faced off against the Fort Dale Academy Lady Eagles at Escambia Academy in Canoe, while on Monday, EA hosted the Monroe Academy Volunteers.

The Lady Cougars varsity finished the two-game home stand with a 2-0 record, but the junior varsity finished 1-1 falling to Monroe Academy.

Escambia Academy’s next softball contests will be Tuesday on the road against Sparta Academy in Evergreen. Games begin with the junior varsity at 4 p.m.

Escambia Academy’s Lady Cougars varsity softball team picked up its third win in a row on Tuesday, as they slipped past the Fort Dale Lady Eagles 11-9 at Barnett Field in Canoe.

The Lady Cougars (5-3) were strong at the plate and on the basepath in the contest recording 10 hits and picking up five stolen bases.
Leading the Lady Cougars was Sydney McGhee who went 4-for-4 in the contest with two doubles and three runs scored. She also had two stolen bases.

Also recording hits for the Cougars were Hannah Fountain (2-for-4), Nikie Bryan (1-for-4), Chelsea Ramer (1-for-4), Megan Duncan (1-for-3) and Kortland Peebles (1-for-2).

Allie Brooks earned a win for Escambia Academy at Barnett Field on Monday striking out six batters in a 12-2 victory in Canoe.

The Lady Cougars (4-3) dominated the game with seven batters recording two hits and at least one RBI. Offensively, Lacie Flowers led EA going 2-for-4 with a double and a team-leading two RBIs.

Other Lady Cougars with hits were Hanna Fountain (2-for-4, RBI), Grayson Emmons (2-for-3, RBI), Page Lancaster (2-for-4, RBI), Megan Duncan (2-for-3, RBI) and Reagan Bell (2-for-3).

The Escambia Academy Lady Cougars junior varsity bounced back from a loss to Monroe Academy on Monday with a 9-4 win over the Fort Dale Academy Lady Eagles Tuesday at Barnett Field.

The Lady Cougars had a well-rounded game offensively with five hits being recorded in the contest.

Leading EA in the win were Bailey Lancaster (1-for-2, 2RBI) and Anna Catherine Sasser (1-for-3, 2RBI).

In a rivalry match up, the Escambia Academy Lady Cougars junior varsity softball team was beaten 9-2 by the Monroe Academy Lady Volunteers Monday at Barnett Field in Canoe.

In the loss, EA was led at the plate by Victoria Sawyer (1-for-2, RBI) and Reagan Bell (1-for-2, RBI).
