First-year Escambia Academy Cougar head football coach Hugh Fountain has named two new coaches to his staff.
Justin Marshall and Paul Kurshharr are the two new staff members to join Fountain at the school. Marshall comes from former Atmore native Jeff Torrance’s staff.
“Justin will be coaching offensive line for us,” Fountain said. “He comes to us from Dale County High School in Midland City where he was on the staff their last year. We got connected with him from coach Torrance—an old Atmore guy. Coach Kursharr’s coaching assignment for us right now is unofficial. Those guys will complete our staff and they were able to help us out in the spring.”
Fountain, who was coming back from a team camp with his players and staff Wednesday, said Marshall and Kurshharr are the only two hires while the other staff is already in place.
“We are just glad they were able to go to camp with us,” Fountain said. “We just finished up a camp at the University of West Alabama and we were glad they were able to go with us. We are just still trying to get everything in line for next season. That is sort of where we are at right now.”
Fountain and his new staff and his 2012 team will open their 2012 season Friday, Aug. 24, at home against Fort Dale.
