Atmore man faces hoax charges

An Atmore man is facing some interesting charges after an Escambia County grand jury indicted him last week.
Doyle O. Johnson of Atmore is facing charges of manufacture/possession of a bio-weapon/hoax device of replica of weapon of mass destruction charge after members of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department presented evidence to the grand jury.
The suspect is accused of producing makeshift pipe bombs at his home.
Johnson was also picked up on a violation of parole charge as a result of the additional arrest. He had previously been charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and the manufacturing of a controlled substance stemming from a November 2010 incident.
He is being held at the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton. No bond has been set in the case.
