Thanks to all of you who’s supported the Library Partners drive again this year. Your contributions purchased two computers and one desk for the children’s department and non-fiction books for adults and children.
A special thanks to board members Sherry Digmon, Magaline Marshall, Bess Maxwell, Myrna Monroe, Julie Johnson, Sandra Hiebert, Rex Rose and Leigh Ann Rowland. They are always eager to help.
The people of Atmore have always supported their library and that’s why we have such a great one. It’s not just a beautiful building; it’s what’s inside that makes it so great. We have books and materials to educate our youth. We have most any type fiction for you recreational reading. We have ten computers downstairs and seven upstairs with high speed internet, Office software, and educational games for the youngsters and skills software to help your child in just about every subject. We have a weekly story time for children from September through May and a summer reading program in June. We offer a wealth of information through Alabama Virtual Library, whether in your home or at the library. Our youth can get help with homework five days a week through Homework Alabama. You can prepare for so many tests such as GED, SAT, ACT or GRE by utilizing Learning Express Library. We now offer e-books thanks to Escambia County Library System’s subscription to Camellia Net.
Please come by the library and let us show you how much the library has grown. In 1973 Mrs. Florence Kennington, Librarian, spoke to the Jaycettes. She said, “The library over the years has grown, sometimes painfully slow, other times by leaps and bounds.” I wish she could see the library today!
Thank you again.
