Payton Tunsel Taylor

ROBERTSDALE – Payton Tunsel Taylor, 77, passed away on Aug. 2, 2013, at Robertsdale Healthcare Center in Robertsdale.
He was born Aug. 14, 1935, in Atmore. His parents were Payton T. Taylor Sr. and Catherine Agee Taylor. He was a descendant of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and a tribal member. He was very proud of his heritage. He attended high school at Escambia County High School and then served in the National Guard. He served in the U.S. Army soon after high school, living in many places, such as Texas and Alaska. He was a proud American veteran. After serving in the army, he worked for Sutton Music and, in his later years, for the city of Robertsdale. His last 10 years, he spent as a resident of Live Oak Village in Foley.
He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
Survivors include his daughters, Tammy Taylor of Dallas, Sonya Moye (Ken) of Loxley, Catherine Denise Cooper (Lyle), of Gulf Shores, Jessica Fell (Gavin), of Loxley and Claudette Lloyd (James), of Robertsdale; sons, Dewayne Taylor (Russ Tucker), of Atlanta, Jeremy Taylor and Joseph Taylor, both of Robertsdale; sister, Christiana Ashcraft (Jimmy), of Spanish Fort; brother, Kenneth Taylor (Evelyn), of Atmore; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at Mack Funeral Home Chapel with Glenn Butler and Pastor Jody Kranz officiating. Burial will be held at Spanish Fort State Veterans Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 9 until 10 a.m. at Mack Funeral Home.
