The Escambia Academy Cougars went unbeaten at home in the regular and became only the third EA football team to win nine games in a season after Friday’s 55-6 drubbing of Macon-East.

Coach Hugh Fountain said the win was a total team effort and praised the defense, which save a late, fourth-quarter touchdown, would’ve pitched a shutout.

Despite the success on home turf this season, the Cougars will travel for their first round playoff tilt next week.
