Escambia County High School senior softball player Tristen Boothe will continue her playing career at Jefferson Davis Community College.

Boothe officially signed to play softball at JDCC, during a special presentation held Wednesday morning in the ECHS library. Family, coaches and friends joined her to help celebrate the occasion.

“I’m really excited,” said Boothe, who has been playing softball since she was 5. “I feel like I’ve worked my whole life to get to this point, and I’m happy to be going to play at the next level.”

Stephanie Adams, head softball coach at ECHS, said Boothe is a great example for her teammates.

“She’s the kind of player who already knows what needs to be done; you don’t even have to tell her to do it,” she said. “She excels both on the field and in the classroom.”

Adams said Boothe would be the starting shortstop for the Lady Devils this year, but also pitches or helps in other positions when needed.

“She’s the kind of player that isn’t necessarily locked into any one position,” Adams said. “She’ll go wherever we need her to play to help the team win.”

The Lady Devils will begin their season Monday with a home game against Robertsdale. The JV will play at 5:30 p.m., and the varsity will follow at 7.
