Murray also said the Lady Cougars (2-1) played strong defense, especially at third base, where Reagan Hill made several key plays on line drives and hard-hit grounders. She also praised the play of eighth grader Victoria Sawyer, who stepped in to catch after an injury to EA’s normal starting catcher.

“We also had a great game on the mound from our pitcher, Jen Weaver,” Murray said.

Weaver allowed two runs (one earned), on six hits. She struck out one and walked two.

EA started the game with a bang, scoring seven runs as 11 batters came to the plate in the bottom of the first inning. The Lady Cougars added three runs in the second and three runs in the fourth.
