EA finishes 1-2 in recent games

Escambia Academy’s baseball team went 1-2 in its games last week, picking up a win against Russell Christian while dropping games to Monroe Academy and Glenwood Academy. All three games were played at Monroe Academy.

EA fell to Monroe Academy, 8-1, on Tuesday, March 18.

EA coach Mickey Cannon said the team played well offensively, collecting 10 hits, but just could not get the big hit with runners in scoring position. Tristan McAnally took the loss on the mound for the Cougars.

The Cougars bounced back to win against Russell Christian on Friday, taking the game by a score of 11-7.

EA’s leading hitter was Nate Smith, who was 2-for-4. The Cougars finished the game with 11 hits. Brett Gorum was the winning pitcher.

EA lost to Glenwood Academy, 11-1, in its second game Friday. The Cougars finished with seven hits. Smith had two hits, and Chris Brown also had two hits. Bradley Geck was the losing pitcher for the Cougars.

EA was scheduled to play Northview on Thursday, March 27, but that game was canceled.

EA will travel to face Sparta Academy on Tuesday, April 1, at 5:30 p.m. The Cougars will return home Thursday, April 3, to host Clarke Prep at 6 p.m.
