Police are searching to two suspects who allegedly burglarized the Medical Park Drive Buy Rite Pharmacy early Friday morning.
The break-in is the second of its kind in a month.
Chuck Brooks of the Atmore Police Department said the incident occurred just after 3:30 a.m. Friday.
During the first burglary, burglars threw a brick through the window to get inside the building. This time, it was a rolling trashcan through the door, reports indicate.
Video surveillance was obtained from the scene, and police hope to identify those responsible for the incident that caused $3,000 in damages.
Taken was approximately $500 in cash and drugs.
“After entering the store, it was determined that one suspect went straight to the store cash registers and the other ran to the back of the pharmacy and stole drug items,” Brooks said. “The following items were stolen Propranold, a 500ml bottle; Promethazine with codeine, 120ml; Promethazine with Demerol, 369 ml; Promethazine with Codeine, 353ml; and Dicyclomine, 473ml.”
Responding to the business were members of the Atmore Police Department, who later called in the state prison system’s K-9 tracking unit. A scent was located; however, it was lost. It is believed those responsible fled the scene in an automobile.
The Atmore Police Department asked if anyone has any information regarding this crime to please call 251-368-9141.
