Former Escambia County High School head football coach Lev Holly has been named the new coach at Blount High School.

According to a story reported on AL.com, the Mobile County School board approved the hire Wednesday. Holly was scheduled to meet the Blount players Thursday morning and the parents later that evening.

Holly had previously served as an assistant coach at Jackson. He is replacing Mark Hurt, who was relieved of his coaching duties in February. Hurt was 22-11 in three years at Blount, reaching the playoffs each season.
