Joy of Life ball is Jan. 23

Residents of Atmore are invited to the third annual Joy of Life Mardi Gras Ball at the Mobile Cruise Terminal.

The ball will be held on Sat., Jan. 23, and benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Doors open at 7 p.m. and a silent auction will last until 9:30 p.m.

Following the silent auction, the King and Queen, Denver Shuttlesworth and Kayla Prieto, respectively, will be honored.

At present, Shuttlesworth is battling neuro blastoma. Prieto is in remission.

“We will honor them,” St. Jude on the Gulf Coast Vice President Farrah Middleton said.

Tickets are $100 each. Middleton said the best deal is for a table of 10 for $700.

“We are selling a whole lot of those,” she said.

The ball will feature Rubiks Groove, and tastings from local restaurants such as Baumhower’s Restaurant, Chick-fil-A, Rotolo’s Pizzeria, Starbucks, Naman’s Catering, Atlanta Bread Company and more.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go toward St. Jude on the Gulf Coast, which is a 501 ( c ) 3 non-profit organization that was formed in 2013 to benefit the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
