The Rev. Robert Klotz of First Baptist Church of Perdido recently opened the doors to help Perdido School students who were evacuated due to a small fire at the school.

The fire, which was confined to the breaker closet, was extinguished, but students were kept out of the main building until everything could be checked by the Perdido Fire Department and Alabama Power Co.

Klotz came to the rescue and invited students and staff to come to the church, where students were warm, entertained and fed lunch by the school.

To show their appreciation, those students in kindergarten through fifth grade who went to the church, wrote Klotz and his congregation a thank you letter or made cards.
