Atmore Christian School’s defense in the third period was too much for Aletheia Christian Academy as the Rams won 51-37 last Friday at home on senior night.

The Rams ran a 1-3-1 zone defense and in combination with the wing span of some tall players, ACS stopped the perimeter game quite well.

“That was a good win,” ACS coach Tim Battles said.

Battles said the win was crucial because the Rams are playing for third place out of their west division in the Panhandle Christian Conference. The Rams played East Hill Monday night.

In ACS’s win over Aletheia, the Rams were led by Ethan Heller with 21 points; and Kevin Depew chipped in 18 points.

“We shot well in the first quarter,” Battles said. “Of course, we shot two perimeter shots that were threes and the rest were layups. For the rest of the game we did not shoot well.”

Battles said the boys responded well after Aletheia outscored the Rams 18-8 in the second period.

After Monday’s game, the Rams play at Central Christian School in Robertsdale to close out the regular season.

On Feb. 5-6, the regional tournament will take place at Aletheia in Pensacola, Fla.
