2 local teams to start postseason play Friday

Two local baseball teams will be in postseason action this Fri., April 21.

Both teams will play in a best of three series. Two games will be played on Friday, and an if necessary game will be played on Saturday.

Escambia County will travel to play Tallassee in the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs.

The Blue Devils will play at 5 and 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The if necessary game is slated for 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Escambia Academy is at home against Russell Christian.

First pitch on Friday is slated for 4 and 6 p.m. The if necessary game on Saturday is set to start at noon.

Admission to the EA games is $7.

Northview will be playing in district action, starting May 1. Opponents and locations are yet to be determined.
Escambia Academy’s Drew Parker struck out 13 batters and Fred Flavors scored twice to help lead the Cougars to a 5-0 victory over Central Christian on Tuesday.

Parker also went 2-for-4 with a double at the plate.

Flavors went 2-for-4 with two runs, and Jason Davis went 2-for-4 with a run.

Chase Bell went 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs, and Kainoa Gumapac went 1-for-4 with two walks.

EA (10-12) will be in action on Monday at Jay, Fla. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.
