Reevaluation.

That’s been the focus this week for Escambia County as the Blue Devils hit the road for a region game against Satsuma this week.

Last week, ECHS (2-3) fell 40-8 to Hillcrest-Evergreen on homecoming.

On Monday, the atmosphere was quiet at practice on the start of another week.

ECHS head football coach Rico Jackson said after the homecoming loss that the team has a long way to go. To get back on track, he said, the coaches are reevaluating a lot.

“We’re just reevaluating what we do and reevaluating the kids we have in certain positions,” Jackson said.

When asked if he’ll move kids to new spots, Jackson said that that wouldn’t be the case for all of them.

“We’re just going to try new stuff,” he said. “We keep doing the same thing and getting the same result.”

The biggest aspect of the game that’s plagued ECHS is the turnover ratio. Last week alone, the Blue Devils coughed up five turnovers.

On Satsuma, Jackson said the Gators are a deceiving 1-4 football team.

“They have a good football team,” he said.
