Blue Devils fall 3 spots to No. 8 in final 4A poll

Escambia County dropped three spots in Class 4A in the final Alabama Sports Writers Association basketball poll, which was released today.

The Blue Devils, now No. 8 and 19-7 overall, fell by some 30 points to Hillcrest-Evergreen on Tuesday, but defeated Andalusia 48-45 last Friday and W.S. Neal 80-59 on Jan. 25.

After its senior night game tomorrow against St. Luke’s, ECHS will transition to area tournament play.

The Blue Devils tip off against No. 7 Monroe County on Wed., Feb. 7, at 5 p.m. in Andalusia, the regular-season area winner. The winner was determined by a coin toss.

The area championship is slated for 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 10.

In girls action, the Lady Blue Devils face Andalusia at 5 p.m. on Feb. 7 in Monroeville at MCHS. The area championship is slated for 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 9.
