Grand jury indicts man

An Escambia County grand jury has indicted an Atmore man for sex abuse, according to the sheriff’s office.
Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said Tuesday that Eric Williams, 19, of Atmore, was indicted on the sex abuse 1 charge.
According to Atmore Advance archives, Williams was charged with sex abuse I after allegedly groping a female corrections officer at the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
At the time, Williams was incarcerated for other crimes, including theft of property II, attempting to break and enter, three counts of attempting to break and enter a vehicle, attempting to elude, failure to obey a law enforcement officer, three counts of theft of property II, criminal mischief III, burglary II, theft of property I and violation of probation with a bond of $100,000.
The bond for the sex abuse charge is $150,000.
