Escambia Academy holds all-sports banquet

Editor’s note: The Atmore Advance was not able to stay for the entire banquet. The following is what was reported on at the event.

Escambia Academy’s Cassidy Murphy and Victoria Sawyer received the Dana Kent Award, and Fred Flavors received the Lance Dawe Award at the Canoe school’s annual all-sports banquet on May 8.

The Kent and Dawe awards recognize the top male and female athletes of the year.

All sports, including volleyball, cheerleading, junior varsity football, varsity football, girls and boys basketball, golf, weightlifting, baseball, softball and girls and boys track and field were recognized.

During each sport, every athlete who participated were given certificates and individual awards were awarded.

Sawyer was named the team captain of the volleyball team; Louie Turner, MJ Jones, Jamie Welker, Jabe Dawe and Flavors were named team captains of the football team; and Murphy was named team captain of the girls basketball team.
