Blue Devils rise 2 spots in latest 4A poll

Escambia County climbed up the ladder two spots in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 4A boys basketball poll, which was released today.

The Blue Devils are now No. 7 after topping then No. 5 UMS-Wright 66-65 on Tuesday night. UMS dropped to No. 9 in this week’s poll.

ECHS improved to 16-5 overall, and 3-2 in Area 1 play after the win.

Hillcrest-Evergreen (18-2) is still No. 1 in 4A, followed by Talladega (18-5) and Williamson (18-7) at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.

Brooks, Sumter Central, Anniston are Nos. 4-6, respectively.

In the girls’ poll, T.R. Miller is still at No. 3 after defeating Excel 60-4 on Tuesday, and a 49-22 decision over Thomasville last Thursday.

In the AISA boys poll, Escambia Academy (12-6) is No. 8.
