Mrs. Mary Avanelle Jordan Stark, 90 years young, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2019 at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.
She was born in Little Rock, Ark. on May 25, 1929 to George Dewey and Erma Lee Kelly Jordan, both of which preceded her in death.
She was a devoted wife of over 52 years to husband, the Rev. Joseph F. Stark
and a loving mother to son, Daniel Glenn Stark, both of which preceded her in death as well.
She had three siblings, sisters, Virginia Fields of Little Rock and Marjorie Harrell of Ozark, Ark. and brother, Herbert Edward Jordan of Denver, Colo., all of which preceded her in death.
Mary was a high school graduate of Little Rock Central High School in Little Rock in January 1947. She worked for South Central Bell Telephone Co. in New Orleans, La. and also in Flomaton. After many years of employment with South Central Bell, she retired from Touch-1 Long Distance Service in 1994.
Sister Mary Stark and her husband pastored New Home United Pentacostal Church in Atmore for over 25 years.
After he passed away, she remained an active member of the church until her death.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph Frederick Stark Jr, (Roman) of Palm Springs, Calif. and Robert Neil Stark (Jo) of Gretna, La.; three grandchildren, Natalie Stark Oser (Gene) of Marrero, Robert Neil Stark Jr. M.D. (Kim) of Rockwall, Texas and Jeffrey Paul Stark, P.E. (Wendy) of New Orleans; and five great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Stark, Ethan Stark and Aidan Stark of Rockwell and Justin Oser and Brandon Oser of Marrero.
Services were held Aug. 3, 2019 from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Breceda officiating. Interment followed in Serenity Gardens.
Family will receive friends Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of all arrangements.
