Escambia County is excited for the opportunity to play top-ranked UMS-Wright tonight, Blue Devils head football coach Scott Mason said.

The Blue Devils enter the Class 4A, Region 1 contest 4-3 overall, and 3-2 in the region. UMS is a spotless 7-0.

Mason said tonight’s game will be a rough and tough game.

“They’re well coached, and do exactly what they’re supposed to do,” he said.

Mason said, like a well-oiled machine, the Bulldogs play as a unit as all of their parts work cohesively.

The coach said UMS has a good quarterback, running back and wide receiver.

Last week, the Blue Devils fell 28-0 to Andalusia.

Mason said the players got a little tired late. ECHS only trailed 8-0 in the fourth quarter.

He said the main keys this week include making no mistakes, penalties and turnovers against the Bulldogs.
