Lee Verne, 89, was called home by the Lord on July 23, 2020.

Lee Verne a native of Escambia County, Ala., was born in McCullough and resided in Atmore most of his life.

He was owner and manager with his wife, Amy, of Builders Hardware and Supply Co. of Atmore, for 34 years.

He was president of Canoe Water System for many years. He was chairman of the building and grounds committee for Escambia Baptist Association for a number of years.

Verne was of the Baptist Faith, many years at Moyeville Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, treasurer, Sunday School (S.S.) superintendent, adult S.S. teacher and minister of music. He was a member of Brooks Memorial Baptist Church.

Verne was preceded in death by his wife, Amy; parents, Wiley and Marguerite Davis Seale; four sisters, Lucille Butt, Jessie Swindle, Mary McClain and Lois Creamer; and one brother, Clifford.

Verne is survived by two brothers, Murlon (Margaret) of Atmore and Floyd (Betty) of Wawbeek; two sisters, Nancy Nelson of Foley and Dottie (Charles) West of Ozark. 

Funeral service was held on July 26, 2020 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Knowles and Dr. Dale Patterson officiating. 

Burial followed at Serenity Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation was held July 26 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. 

Pallbearers were Kenneth McClain, Tracy McClain, Bennie Wilson, Christopher Seale, Andrew Sharpless and Shawn Cruz. 

Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC of Atmore was in charge of all arrangements.
