Mr. Kenneth “Kenny” L. Curry Sr., 48, of Atmore, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on Sat., July 25, 2020 at his residence.
He was a native of Walnut Hill, Fla., where his early schooling was at Ernest Ward School before he completed his schooling at Escambia County High School in 1990. His early Christian journey begin at Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church, Nokomis Community and he later became a member of Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center.
Kenny was an avid gospel singer for 30 years, singing with the Gospel Harmonizers, the Visionaires and the Gospel Keys. He also had been employed at Standard Furniture, Masland Carpets and Atmore Work Release with the Alabama Department of Corrections. He was presently employed at Baldwin County Juvenile Detention Center in Bay Minette and had been a barber for over 30 years. He was a barber at D&G’s Finest Cuts in Atmore.
Kenny was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Alabama Crimson Tide fan.
Those whom he has joined in eternity are his father, Woodrow Curry Jr.; his grandfather, Henry Fountain; and grandparents, Rosie Mae and Woodrow Curry Sr.
Those left to cherish beautiful memories of his life include his devoted wife, Gasha L. Williams-Curry; four daughters, Takendra Ingram, Tieka North, Jasmine Curry and MarDaizah Salter; two sons, Kenny Curry Jr. and Ty’Hyeem Curry; his mother, Cathion Fountain Curry; five sisters, Marsha Curry, Lakeisha Findlay, Asterra Riley, Shekethia Dailey and Angela (Winston) Barron; his grandmother, Mother Nancy Fountain; six grandchildren; his mother in law, Ms. Daisy Mae Williams; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and in laws; with special cousins, O’Neil Crenshaw, Leon Crenshaw, Dennis George, Winston Barron, Winston Crenshaw, Jerry Redmond Jr., Clifford Moorer and Danny Crenshaw.
Funeral service was held on the grounds of Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center with Bishop Darryl North officiating. Inhumation was in Mt. Shiloh Cemetery (Nokomis) with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
