EA head football coach Hugh Fountain said his team being 2-0 in AISA Class 2A, Region 2 is good, but there’s still plenty of football left to play.

“I was proud of how we physically played the game,” Fountain said. “We played hard nose from the very beginning.”

Scoring plays for the Cougars in the first half included:

• A 16-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Landon Sims to Daughtry McGhee. The point after attempt (PAT) was good.

• Bubba Nettles scored on a 75-yard rush. The PAT was good.

• A 55-yard touchdown pass from Sims to Sam Fields. The PAT was good.

• A 64-yard touchdown pass from Sims to Tyler Ray-Cloud. The PAT was good.

In the third quarter, running back Christian Crook scooted in from 14 yards out with 6:39 left to play. The PAT was good.

Sims was 8-of-10 for 206 yards and three touchdowns in the air. He had one interception.

Wilcox Academy got on the board early in the fourth period on an 8-yard scoring rush.

The Cougars will host Jay, Fla. next week at home.
