Mr. Robert L. White was born May 20, 1941 in Atmore to the late Mary White and David Brooks and was later adopted by Ms. Adela Bradley.

He departed this life on Jan. 6, 2021, at Atmore Community Hospital.

He attended Atmore Training School and Faulkner State College. Later he joined the U.S. Military, where he was a Vietnam Vet, serving one tour of duty while in the U. S. Army. After serving in the military, he moved back to Atmore and worked for Masland Carpet for several years.

When he received his commercial operator license (COL) license, he began working for Nutrien (Feeding the Future) where he remained for 30 years before retiring in 2010.

He was a member of Greater Mount Triumph Baptist Church, where he sang in the A.L. Durant Gospel Chorus, male chorus, played percussion and served as superintendent of the Sunday School.

He was happily married for over 50 years to Ruby N. White, and in this union had three children, Donald L. White, Ronald L. White and Tabatha White-Thomas. He also had two other children, Andre White and Robin Staples, who he loved dearly.

He was a well-known singer in the Atmore community and surrounding areas.

Graveside service and interment will be held at noon this Sat., Jan. 16, 2021, at Fairview Cemetery (Johnson Road, Atmore) with the Rev. Willie Hawthorne officiating. Public viewing will be held this Fri., Jan. 15, 2021 at Mayberry Funeral Home (149 Carver Avenue, Atmore).
