Escambia County swept Vigor 17-5, 15-5 in an area doubleheader tonight in Prichard.

The Blue Devils improve to 4-0 in Class 4A, Area 1.

ECHS 17, Vigor 5

The Blue Devils built a 7-0 lead after the first two innings and never held back.

Vigor scored one run in the third and four in the fifth.

Hasten Dean went 2-for-2 with three runs and an RBI to lead the Blue Devils. Jamarion Robinson went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Michael Merchant, James Whatley and James Gibson had one hit each. Whatley added an RBI in the win.

Four Vigor players had two hits each.

Anthony McCants struck out 10 and allowed five runs in 10 hits in a complete game to earn the win for ECHS on the mound.

ECHS 15, Vigor 5

Escambia County and Vigor scored two runs each in the first inning to start the doubleheader.

Vigor added one run each in the second and third, but ECHS scored four in its frame in the third and seven in the fourth to pull away.

Lebron Willis went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI; and Merchant went 2-for-2 with two RBIs to lead ECHS. Quayon McCants had one hit.
