Multiple fire departments battled a brush fire in a field off Hangar Drive on Sept. 30, according to officials.
Atmore Fire Chief Ronald Peebles said the AFD was called out to the scene at 4:04 p.m. Walnut Hill, Fla. and Poarch Fire Department, along with Nokomis, provided mutual aid, he said.
Peebles said it appears one of the machines let out a spark, and because it was so dry, the spark ignited.
Peebles said the farmer, who had just finished combining the corn, lent aid and disked around the fire for the departments to help slow down the fire from going anywhere.
Peebles said approximately 30 acres of the field burnt.
The AFD cleared the scene at 5:30 p.m.
