Escambia Academy fell 56-12 to Chambers Academy tonight in the AISA Class 2A state quarterfinals in LaFayette.

Cougars head football coach Gex Billups said CA came in with a good game plan, and played hard.

“We didn’t execute and didn’t make tackles on defense,” Billups said. “That really doesn’t take away from this season with all the adversity these kids and coaches had to overcome. I can’t express how proud I am of these kids and coaching staff.”

EA’s ST Clark scored a touchdown in the third quarter, and connected with Jacob Lee on a scoring pass late in the fourth.

Billups said the players have nothing to hold their heads down about.
“They can hold their heads up high,” he said. “They were up against a lot this year. They came with a good attitude every day, and were ready to work. I’m extremely proud of them.”
EA ends its season 4-5.
