Lady Chiefs finish 2nd at J.U. Blacksher Invitational in Poarch

Northview’s Lady Chiefs finished second at the J.U. Blacksher Invitational March 24-25 at Arrowhead Park in Poarch.

The Lady Chiefs (9-8) fell 8-7 to Thomasville and beat Elberta 15-1 to finish pool play on March 25, and defeated Blacksher 7-6 in bracket play.

On Friday, NHS shutout out W.S. Neal 8-0 and Flomaton 10-0.

NHS girls 15, Elberta girls 1

Northview scored four runs in the first inning, two runs each in the second and third innings and seven runs in the fourth inning.

Makayla Golson went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs to lead NHS. Emma Gilmore and Aubrey Stuckey had two hits each.

Jamison Gilman struckout five and allowed one run on one hit in 4.0 innings to earn the win.

 

NHS girls 7, Blacksher girls 6

Gilmore hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the sixth inning to help lead the Lady Chiefs to the one-run victory over the tournament host.

The Lady Chiefs battled back from a 6-3 deficit in the bottom of the fifth. Stuckey and Chloe Ragsdale hit RBIs.

Gilmore, Stuckey, Golson and Mary-Clayton Dawson had two hits each for the Lady Chiefs.

Gilmore earned the win for NHS in relief. Gilman struck out five in 6.0 innings.

 

March 24

NHS girls 10, Flomaton girls 0

Gilmore pitched a one-hitter and struck out eight batters in 4.0 innings to lead the Lady Chiefs.

Dawson, Stuckey and Golson had two hits each to lead NHS.

Northview scored four runs in the first inning, three runs in the second, two runs in the third and one run in the fourth.

 

NHS girls 8, WSN girls 0

Stuckey went 2-for-3; Rylee Brooks went 1-for-2 with three runs; and Golson went 0-for-2 with two RBIs to lead the Lady Chiefs.

NHS scored one run each in the first and third innings; and two runs each in the second, fourth and fifth innings.
