Chiefs finish runner up at District 1 weightlifting meet

3 NHS weightlifters win district in weight classes

Three Northview weightlifters finished first in their weight divisions in the FHSAA Class 1A, District 1 weightlifting meet at Baker High School on March 31.

Northview’s Dustin Santinelli claimed the district championship in the 119-pound class with a total of 355 pounds; Tony Antrium won the district title in the 129-pound class with a total of 360 pounds; and Blake Yoder won the 199-pound class with a total of 525 pounds.

Other medalists included Danny McGaha, third place in the 139-pound division; Jacquez Moorer, third place in the 169-pound division; Kaleb Selig, third place in the 199-pound division; and Daniel Earnest, third place in the 219-pound division.

As a team, the Chiefs finished district runner up.

Teams at the meet included Jay, Baker, Catholic and NHS.

“I am very proud of our guys’ consistency in the weight room this season, and the way they competed at the district meet,” NHS weightlifting coach Jace Gandy said.

Northview will compete at regionals this Fri., April 7, in Port St. Joe, Fla.
