The third annual Battle of the Badges Charity Softball Game will be held today, Sat., May 20, at Tom Byrne Park.

First pitch is slated for 5:30 p.m. for the game that puts the Atmore Fire Department against the Atmore Police Department.

The event raises money for a charity, and this year’s charity is the Escambia County Child Advocacy Center, Organizer Danny White said.

White said the advocacy center works with children that are victims of abuse, and aid in them getting mental health resources.

“With May being Mental Health Awareness month, and me being such a big advocate for mental health, I wanted to have our charity this year factor into that,” White said.

Tickets are $5 each, and kids 12 and under get in free.

White said today that as they continue to prepare for the game, there is a chance of rain.

“If rain occurs, we will delay the game, but won’t reschedule unless absolutely necessary,” he said. “Come out and watch Atmore Fire and Atmore PD face off as we raise money for Escambia County Child Advocacy Center.”
