Several additional rounds of severe storms and heavy rainfall are forecasted through the weekend for the area, according to the National Weather Service of Mobile’s 8 a.m. update.
The first will be this afternoon and evening. These storms will be capable of producing damaging winds, large hail and possibly a tornado.
The severe threat will also continue into Sunday. An initial round of severe storms is possible early Sunday morning with a second round possible Sunday afternoon through late Sunday night. Threats include damaging winds (60+ mph), large hail and possibly a tornado.
The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for the entire forecast area through Monday morning. Another 2-4 inches of rain is possible with locally higher totals where storms repeatedly move over the same locations.
Additionally, a high risk of rip currents continues for the coastal Alabama and northwest Florida beaches today.
