NWE wins 8U Cal Ripken District 7 Tournament

NWE beat Poarch 13-4 today to win the District 7 Cal Ripken Baseball Tournament at Arrowhead Park.

The northwest Florida team dominated its way through the winner’s bracket, defeating Poarch 23-7 earlier in the bracket title game. NWE defeated Uriah 9-0 and Monroe 20-3 to begin tournament play on Friday.
In other action today, Uriah defeated Atmore 14-9; Poarch defeated Monroe 12-10 in the loser’s bracket final;and Monroe beat Uriah 14-6. Monroe defeated Flomaton 11-0.
During action on Friday, Flomaton defeated Atmore 8-6; and Poarch defeated Flomaton 14-7.
The winner and runner up advance to the state tournament on June 30.
NWE 13, Poarch 4
NWE scored six runs in the first inning and seven runs in the fourth, and played good defense against a hot-hitting Poarch team.
Kaysen went 1-for-2 with a double; Lakota went 1-for-2 with a double; Lannon went 1-for-2 with a single; Jessie and Hudson had two hits and runs each.
NWE’s Lane, Ryker, Christian, Gunner, Beckett and Sawyer scored two runs each.
In Monroe’s win over Uriah, Monroe scored five runs in the first inning, three runs in the second, and three runs each in the third and fourth innings.
Poarch 12, Monroe 10
Jessie and Kayson scored two runs each; Hudson, Teelan, Jayden, Lakota and Bodhi scored one run each to lead Poarch.
Uriah 14, Atmore 9
Ian W. scored two runs to lead Atmore. Derrick B., James, Derrick R., Jay Gross, J. Dawson, Tingle and Tory scored one run each.
Atmore scored one run in the second inning, four runs in the third, four runs in the fourth, two runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth.
Flomaton 8, Atmore 6
Flomaton scored five runs in the first inning, two runs in the second and one run in the third.
Cade, RJ, Bentley D., Bentley M., Dawson and Justin scored one run each for Flomaton. Paxton scored two runs.
Ian W. score two runs to lead Atmore; Derrick B., Jay Gross, Jay Dawson and Daniel scored one run each.
