ECHS to unveil new home, away jerseys during upcoming season
Last season, three Escambia County football coaches put needle and thread together and sewed up tears and holes on their players’ jerseys.
They won’t have to this season as the Blue Devils will be unveiling new blue (home) and white (away) uniforms this season, which were paid for through a grant from the Gulf Coast RC&D and help through the state legislature.
Head football coach Vincent Harris said the jerseys came from Future 1, a custom-made uniform company out of Mobile.
Harris said Future 1 Co-Founder Trent Massey helped with the design of the jerseys, which feature pitchforks on both shoulder pads; blue, white and grey stripes on the thigh pads; and block “ESCAMBIA” and numbers on the front and back.
Harris said they put in the grant to the RC&D last summer, and Gulf Coast RC&D Program Manager Sarah Wooten helped facilitate the grant.
“I can’t thank the city of Atmore enough for all the support,” Harris said. “The jerseys we had last year were torn up by the end of the season.”
Gulf Coast RC&D Executive Director Charlie Ramsey said the grant the school was awarded was the highest they give.
